Chelmsford Tree Festival

We are so excited to participate in the Festival of Trees at the Chelmsford Center for the Arts for the second year in a row!

The children worked on brainstorming, designing, then creating ornaments for our tree. Our current classroom study is "families," so our tree is about ~families!~ of course. We have been learning to answer questions about our own families:

- tell someone your name when asked

- count and tell how many people & pets you live with

- tell someone you parent's names

- tell your grandparent's names and if they live near or far

- tell the names of your pets and what type of animal they are

Based on that, we designed an ornament that showcases many different types of families. Large, small, and some with pets! They chose to use a pink tree and a rainbow skirt.

Then, we needed something to show that families loved one another. So, on our play dough day we made a special dough that would hold it's shape after being baked: Cinnamon & applesauce! It smells SO good!

When thinking about decorated trees, we thought that it should have some sort of stringed decoration. We've been learning about textures and doing a lot of painting, so we painted lots of paper. Then we used a hole punch to make big circles and strung them together.

You can check out our tree at the Chelmsford Center for the Arts now through December 15th. The CCA will be open during the Holiday Prelude & Tree Lighting on First Sunday in December, 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM and during the performances of Santi & Perch: Countdown t o Christmas! Ali is one of the performers in the musical.
